Introduced in the United States in 2007 Netflix had an initial 7.48 million subscribers, expanding outside of the US to Canada in 2010.

Netflix streaming changed the film market by decreasing sales in DVD's and cinema tickets as people no longer needed them to watch films, and also as it was cheaper to watch multiple films through Netflix than buying them individually.
