25 Feb 313 Jahr - 313: The Edict of Milan granted toleration to all religions, including Christianity, in the Roman Empire

Beschreibung:

A few years prior to this edict, Christians were still widely persecuted in the Roman Empire, with the Diocletianic Persecution (303–311) being the last and bloodiest persecution. But through the Edict of Milan, the persecution of Christianity, as well as other religions, was eliminated. Under the influence of the church, laws were passed which protected the rights of women, prohibited infanticide, and ended the bloody sport of gladiators fighting to their deaths. Widows, orphans, the sick, and the poor were also better cared for.
