1 Jan 1534 Jahr - Parliament Completes the Break of the Church of England by passing the, "Act of Supremacy"
Beschreibung:
The English Reformation began when Henry VIII wanted a divorce from his wife Catherine of Aragon because she failed to produce a male heir and he had secretly fallen in love with Anne Boleyn. When Henry asked, Cardinal Wolsey was unable to get an annulment for the marriage from Pope Clement VII. Thomas Cranmer and Thomas Cromwell (new advisers) suggested Henry get an annulment from England's own ecclesiastical courts. An important step in this goal was an act of Parliament to cut off all appeals from Rome from English church courts in Rome, a piece of legislation would essentially abolish papal authority in Rome. Parliament completed the break of the Church of England with Rome by passing the, "Act of Supremacy". The Act of Supremacy declared the king was "taken accepted, and reputed the only supreme head on Earth of the Church of England. England now had control of the church in all matters of doctrine, clerical appointments, and discipline.
