In the early 2150s, the Vipers, driven by a religious frenzy, began to raid more frequently, attracting the Brotherhood of Steel's attention. The Brotherhood sent out a few squads to track them down, led by High Elder Maxon II. The Vipers and Brotherhood had a firefight, and Maxon II died from a poisoned arrow. Rhombus, the new Paladin leader, began a full scale operation against the Vipers.
