Leo Castellanos Velasquez was born to Vanessa Cortes Velasquez and Alexander Castellanos Melendez. He grew up in Gurabo, Puerto Rico with his siblings Dante, Marc, and Alma. At 15 his family moved to Texas because his mother found a better job treating patients. There his family was actively political and he was often a part of protests. He later found his way to New York by attending NYU.
