1 Jan 200000 Jahr v. Chr. - Homo Neanderthalensis and Homo Sapiens
Beschreibung:
As Homo neanderthalensis had a 10% more volumous skull they had a bigger occipital lobule (located at back of the head, is responsible for several functions as elaborating thoughts and emotions, images, the recognition of noise and vision, movement, etc) and bigger eyes (it is believed they had bigger eyes because they lived in places in Europe with very lesser illumination than those from Africa).
Their brains were more related specifically to vision, imagination and especially orientation, having left little space for other cognitive skills comparable to modern humans, such as for the socialization, key point for language and their extinction.
But they were sophisticated, highly specialized hunters. Hence, it is unlikely that Neanderthals were totally deprived of language.
Modern humans, however, used to create complex rituals such as burying dead bodies and anticipate when the tribe needed food. Protection, empathy, thinking in the whole (for example: making tools not only for their own benefit), etc aspects which Neanderthals lacked due to low social skills.
In my opinion, it suggests they were strong visual thinkers, very creative, and theoretically they could have evolved to be very good scientists! But to be a good inventor or scientist it is also necessary to have a balance between logical skills and creativity (abstract thought = logic [frontal lobule/forehead] + abstract thought [occipital lobule/”backhead”]).
