13 Feb 1960 Jahr - Total Abolition of Slave trade
Beschreibung:
By 1960, the all nations had officially outlawed the transatlantic slave trade, with Portugal being the last to abolish. However, the legal restriction of the trade did not fully end the trade considering that it was very profitable. The practice continued up to the early 19th century. The now illegal practice was fuelled by the existence of a slave market in the Americas, particularly in Cuba and in Brazil. Nevertheless, the volume of the trade had reduced tremendously more punitive measures introduced by nations such as the United States and Great Britain for those who caught taking part in the trade
