31 März 1960 Jahr - Aboriginal Voting Rights
Beschreibung:
Prime Minister John Diefenbaker had long been skeptical of the Indian administration’s effectiveness, so established a committee to investigate them. He found that many penalties against the Aboriginal community were unjust. On March 31, 1960, to combat some inequalities against Aboriginals, portions of the Canada Elections Act were repealed to allow the Aboriginal vote. This day was significant as it was a large contribution to the continued effort to achieve equal Aboriginal rights.
