Aluminium printing plates store the contents of the image to be printed using ink and then transferred to a rubber blanket and then the printing surface which can range from paper to plastic or wood. The printing plates, however, must be aligned using registration markers and can only be printed onto flat surfaces. This method has been used for printing books newspapers and magazines and is used commonly today and is seen as the successor to stereotyping.
