The Kress Foundation published on June 1, 2012 an audacious report (1)
'Transitioning to a Digital World -
Art History, Its Research Centers,
and Digital Scholarship'
By coincidence, 7 days later was launched in Paris a new 'digital' international and multidisciplinary art history project (2) entitled
ARTL@S 'Web Atlas of Western Art
of the 19th and 20th century'
an example 'just-in-time' for a follow-up of the Kress report. Will the project respond to the many issues raised by the report?
The aim of this post is to highlight the Kress report with its main findings, with a few extracts and some important recommendations and to make known ARTL@S.
