A type of sieve used to separate corn from dust and other unwanted matter (EDD). 1657 <i>1 credle, 1 skree</i>, Gateforth (YRS47/32). Occasionally also as a verb: 1700 <i>it was of his best mault and he screed it with his own hands</i>, West Riding (QS1). The spellings invite comparison with screen and scry (OED) and with screel below.
