The refuse from tree loppings, i.e. branches, twigs and clippings. 1616 <i>they did stowe and girde so many ashe trees, oake trees and holings in this snowe tyme … and the small brashe they left for ther cattle to bruse on but they led home with a sled the great wood, </i>Brandsby (NYRO44/109). Also used as kindling: 1614 <i>a little brashe woode, </i>South Cave (Kaner255); 1619 <i>and elding as turves and brashewood</i>, South Cave (Kaner281).
