The Feminine Mystique was created and written as part of the women's rights movement during the 60s when civil rights were really big. This novel was created by Betty Friedan and the whole point of it was so address how women were finding being stuck in the home as wives, stay at home moms and “homemakers” was getting to them. They wanted to be able to get more jobs in the real world and get paid to make a living for their families instead of just staying home. It called out the people of the working class for not allowing women to display their full potential by getting jobs. This sparked a feminist and women's rights movement.
