Malcolm X was assassinated by rival Black Muslims while addressing his Organization of Afro-American Unity at the Audubon Ballroom in Washington Heights, New York City. His ideology, which was influenced by the leader of the Nation of Islam organization, was used by the Black Panthers and many other organizations.
