Kristallnacht or "The Night of Broken Glass" was a government pogrom mandated by Hitler which sought to destroy Jewish businesses. Kristallnacht destroyed thousands of Jewish businesses and hundreds of synagogues. This was the first openly aggressive anti-semitic action taken against German Jews by the government.
