The House Un-American Activities Committee was a commission that investigated mostly cases of suspected communist activity. The committee subpoenaed hundreds of individuals and indicted none of them. This Committee is often compared to the Salem Witch Trials, as most people who appeared before the council were brought in on trumped up charges.
