31 Mai 1913 Jahr - Huerta takes power

Beschreibung:

The Mexican Revolution began as a revolt of the peasants against the aristocracy and continued for 15 years. In 1913 a clique of leaders had the popular new revolutionary President (Francisco Madero) murdered and installed their henchmen, Indian Victor Huerta, as President. President Wilson refused to recognize Huerta and even helped rebels (Carranza and Poncho Villa). U.S. capital investments in Mexico (railroads and mines) exceeded $1 billion. In response to the arrest and detention of American sailors in the port of Tampico in 1914, Wilson intervened in Mexico by seizing the port city of Vera Cruz. The most significant result of the Mexican revolution for the United States was the 1 million Mexicans who migrated into the Southwestern states of CA, AZ, NM & TX, which has enriched the blended culture of the American Southwest.
