The Civil Rights Act was the “official” beginning to the end of segregation in public areas and legally stopped employing someone based on race, color, religion, gender, or national origin. This act was first proposed by Kennedy and was later officially signed by Lyndon B. Johnson. This act was the start to desegregation, and later this act was expanded into additional rights such as the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
