Starting in the time period of Díaz's Presidency, the US Consulate in Mexico kept Secretary of State constantly informed about Mexican affairs; the US was aware that the regime might change because Díaz could not suppress the rebellions popping up. The US did not want this because they did not want to sacrifice oil trade and economic interest with Mexico.
