The Holocaust was the murder of six million innocent Jews by the Nazis. This horrible thing was led by Adolf Hilter. This awful event took place between 1933 and 1945. During the WW2. the Nazi's threw jews into concentration camps. These camps were horrible, the living conditions, the mistreatment, and the mass killing that happened inside these camps. During the war, the Nazi's carried out mass shootings to kill civilians. In 1941, the Germans began using this mass shooting technique to kill Jews in their area. Later they began to harm entire Jewish communities. Late 1941, the Nazi's built death camps. They built these which are later known as concentration camps for the purpose of killing them in one place. They would round them up and put them in one single gas chamber and they would just die. The railroad system in Germany was the main source of transporting Jews to these camps. Many would often die on the train due to awful conditions as it sometimes took days to get to a camps. As the arrived to the camp they were often put right into the gas chamber to be killed. However if you were considered strong or healthy, these soldiers would force you to work. Millions of Germans participated in the Holocaust. This tragic event ended in May 1945, when the Allied Powers defeated Nazi Germany in the war. The United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union moved around Europe and started to rescue the surviving Jews in the camps.After the war the remaining German leaders were tried for the crimes that happened during the Holocaust. These were called the Nuremberg Trials.
