President Wilson signed an act creating the National Park Service, which is responsible for protecting 35 national parks. He signed this act to help maintain the US natural and historic land. One of the main things he said was to leave the land alone for the enjoyment of future generations. President Roosevelt was often called the conservation president because he was an avid outdoors man. This act was signed on August 25, 1916.
