CPNEWS was an experiment by JP Janssen that represented a blog at the URL 'counterpartynews.com' where contributors to the blog 'received CPNEWS tokens at a pre-defined monthly schedule'. JPJA stated that he 'wanted to show how tokens can make it possible for multiple individuals to cooperate on a startup without any funding'.

This experiment is similar to the token-gated access forums that were created on Tokenly (Let's Talk Bitcoin and Adam B. Levine affiliation) and also would eventually influence future users and websites like 'RarePepeNews'. JPJA states that this project lasted from September to December 2014 and that 'unfortunately the experiment failed' because very little contributors were attracted.

JPJA explains the process, the distribution of tokens, and the one user that contributed in his 'Value-of-XCP' PDF notorized using a Counterparty broadcast in October 2014.
