Hammurabi had become a ruler for Mesopotamia. In 1755 to 1750 BC, Hammurabi decided to start writing his code that we know today. This was a basic set of laws for the people to follow, and it is used to regulate trades for outside of Mesopotamia. This law set will make punishments from the law be equal to what the perpetrator has done to the victim
