20 März 1981 Jahr - Lynching of Michael Donald
Beschreibung:
Michael Donald, a 19-year-old Black man from Mobile, Alabama, was randomly abducted and lynched by two members of the Ku Klux Klan in retaliation for a jury’s failure to convict a Black defendant in a separate case. He was beaten, strangled, and hanged from a tree in a residential neighborhood. His killing was one of the last known lynchings in the United States.
Donald’s mother, Beulah Mae Donald, sued the United Klans of America with the SPLC.
In 1987, she won a $7 million civil judgment, bankrupting the Klan.
