In his State of the Union address, US President Bush describes Iran as the 'axis of evil' along with Iraq and North Korea. He claims that Iran "aggressively pursues [weapons of mass destruction] and exports terror, while an unelected few repress the Iranian people’s hope for freedom."

Iranian government responds by stopping collaboration on the efforts against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
