Beschreibung:

“There were some 1200 men all together. Crossed and built a cabin 16 foot square and roof, opposite mouth of licking and near the old stone mill, left a guard to watch boats dash cabin was subsequently burned by Indians. Marched up the valley up the little Miami, nothing occurred, until within 5 miles of old Chillicothe, when the spies returned gave information that the Indians appeared to be moving off from the town. The army now commenced a run, kept a good smart trot, but when they reached the town about midday, they found the Indians that all gone and burnt their own town. Some pots were found over the fires boiling green corn and snaps. The troops found a great relief and green roasting ears and string beans.”
