The North Star was an anti-slavery newspaper written by Frederick Douglass. This newspaper helped lead to the Civil War because of its anti-slavery views it rallied the (anti-slavery) northerners and angered the (pro-slavery) southerners which created tension between the North and the South, which helped lead to the Civil War.
