1 Jan 1821 Jahr - 1821 Failed Nationalist Revolt
Beschreibung:
A revolutionary movement in Sardinia led by Santorre di Santarosa. Santarosa wanted the removal of Austrians as well as the unification of Italy. The revolts resulted in the King of Sardinia, Victor Emmanuel I, to abdicate the throne. The Carbonari, a romantic revolutionary group present in Italy from around 1800-1831 were a large part of the revolt. The revolt failed because the Kingdom of Sardinia asked for Austrian help which then demolished the revolutionary movement.
