CPKC has confirmed the use of a hydrogen tender, which will be coupled with their 1001 and 1002 hydrogen locomotives.

The prototype tender, known as “HGmotive®” (a brand name for CNGmotive Inc), began operational testing on CPKC tracks in November 2023. The HGmotive® team is currently working on developing a larger capacity hydrogen tender. This new prototype is expected to be ready for validation and commissioning by mid-2025.
