The tripartite meeting State/SNCF/trade unions took place this Tuesday.

Within the framework of the exchanges with the European Commission, the Minister announced that an agreement has been reached between the government and the European Commission.

This agreement includes the following measures:

- Liquidation of the SAS FretSNCF
- Abandonment of 30% of the traffic to the benefit of private rail operators.
- Elimination of 10% of the workforce (about 500 railway workers)
- Creation of 2 subsidiaries under private law outside the GPU, which will lead to the transfer of the remaining railway workers.
- Transfer of 53 locomotives to operators taking over the transferred traffic.
- Opening up the capital of the 2 private subsidiaries created
- Effective implementation of these measures on January 1, 2024.
