The Australasian Railway Association (ARA) has welcomed the Federal Government’s
commitment to key rail projects as part of its $10 billion infrastructure funding
announcement today in advance of the upcoming Federal budget.
The Federal Government has announced, $2.2 billion to support Victoria’s Suburban Rail
Loop and $500 million for the High Speed Rail Authority to start the corridor acquisition in
NSW for high speed rail connections between Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle.*
ARA Chief Executive Caroline Wilkie said the rail industry welcomed this targeted
investment to support better transport options in the regions.
