Aware of the difficulties that hover over the diffusion of their fuel cell trucks, the manufacturers Nikola Motors and Hyzon are working on solutions to facilitate the use of their models: automation of refueling, lighter tanks and use of liquid hydrogen. Truck manufacturers working on hydrogen technology are well aware of the difficulties that remain before this solution is offered on a large scale. In order to provide a solution to the lack of refueling points, Nikola Motors is looking to make refueling stations as autonomous as possible. The Iveco partner reported in early August that it had received a $2 million (€1.7 billion) grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to fund research and development (R&D) work on its future stations.
