This was one of the first ever photographic printing methods, it was done by polishing a sheet of silver-plated copper to a mirror-like state, It would then be treated with fumes to make it light-sensitive, the sheet would then be exposed to a camera for as long as necessary which would produce a light image, which was made visible by fuming the sheet with mercury vapour and it light sensitivity would be removed by a chemical treatment, once it was rinsed an dry, you'd have the finished image. This technique quickly stopped in the 1860s as newer less expensive results with better quality outcomes came around.
