A new study by University of Queensland researchers and rail freight operator Aurizon into how Australia could move toward decarbonizing its heavy haulage rail network has revealed that batteries, or a combination of batteries and hydrogen fuel cells, could feasibly replace diesel power on rail corridors across the country.
