In 1590 two Dutch spectacle makers, who were a father-son duo, created the first microscope. Their names were Hans and Zacharias Janssen.A Dutch diplomat William Boreel, who was a family friend, wrote a letter to the French king in the 1650s detailing the origins of the microscope.
