5 jul 1852 año - Commander Matthew Perry Visits Japan
Descripción:
Commander Matthew Perry played a key role in the "Perry Expedition" which stopped the Japanese period of isolationism. Perry and his four ships went from the United States to Japan with technological goods and weapons onboard. Arriving in Tokyo Bay, Perry delivered a letter from the president requesting Japan to trade with the United States. The weapons and technology aboard Perry's ships "gently encouraged" the Japanese to trade with the USA and on March 31st, 1854, Japan signed the Treaty of Kanagawa.
