Mexico in response to Mexico putting down Texas’s attempt to secede from Mexico. US Marines occupy the presidential palace in Mexico City, and force the Mexican government to sell half of Mexico’s territory to the United States, including what are now the states of California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and parts of Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
