Federal Republic of Central America (sep 15, 1821 – may 31, 1838)

Description:

Influenced by all of the revolutions, wars, and political dramas happening across Europe and the United States, the inhabitants of New Spain finally felt it was time to separate themselves from their Spanish rulers. As independence movements began to break out across the continent, the first nations to achieve success were that of Central America.

The territories of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica had already been organized into one division by the Spanish, but it was on 15th September 1821 when representatives of these territories formed a congress and declared their independence from Spain. A new nation was formed with a republican government known as the Federal Republic of Central America.
